Punk rock icon immortalized.Amundson

The story

The Clash represented everything that was happening in our era. The music, the lyrics, even the name. They inspired me to want to stand up, too. Joe was an iconic member of the rebellion, and he used music and his voice to express himself in ways that helped me learn to do the same. The musicians and artists who needed to be heard back then still matter now because things haven’t changed the way we hoped they would. Painting someone like Joe is often about the emotion and energy I’m trying to express. The fact that rock icons show up in my art just shows how the movement is possible. It’s up to all of us to support change for the better however we can. For me, it’s painting. Not always pretty, but sometimes beautiful.
