The inspiration for this piece is the channeled energy of my deceased father and all of his fathers before him. The intense gaze of our family history can not only see us but also see right through us. The braids in the hair represent the entangled lifetimes we carry with us. The wrinkles of time show in his face and are the scars of carrying the unhealed baggage of our ancestry. The blue background are the emotions that are not embodied in this character's life, but can be seen within the depths of his eyes and soul. The heavy black shadows and the blonde hair represent the balance of light and shadow.
